Review for Cheater (Curious Liaisons #1) by Rachel Van Dyken: ★★★★★

Cheater (Curious Liaisons, #1)Cheater by Rachel Van Dyken

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

::..Reviewed for Red's Midnight Readers..::

I was given an ARC of this in exchange for an honest review. I have given Cheater 5 stars.

So I'm a newbie to Rachel Van Dyken but I honestly don't know how I have never picked up any of her books. Her clever style of writing draws the reader in and hooks them from the very first word.

The title of the book suggested something much deeper than we actually get. Cheater is light and funny despite the serious nature of this book. It was humorous, witty, clever and I found it so entertaining that I couldn't put it down. The banter between Lucas and Avery was off the scales funny and often had me laughing out loud at their witty comebacks.

And the chemistry! Oh boy, the chemistry! Several times throughout the book I had to stop and cool myself down. I thought I might self combust from the heat emanating from the pages.

Despite Lucas's "asshat" tendencies, I actually really liked him. Hiding behind his "reputation" of a cheater lies a man with a broken heart and Avery was just so funny, you can't help but fall in love with her character. She's a real fire cracker and her sense of humor is just wicked.

When I opened the book, I didn't anticipate how much I would enjoy this book, but I did! Every single word.
It's a little bit of the top but absolutely fabulous nonetheless.

Blurb
Lucas Thorn wasn’t born a cheater. All it took was a single moment—say, a certain disastrous incident on the night before his wedding—and boom. Reputation destroyed forever and always. So now he owns it. He has a lady friend for every night of the week (except Sundays—God’s day and all), and his rules are simple: No commitments. No exceptions.

But a certain smart-mouthed, strawberry blonde vixen is about to blow that all to hell.

Avery Black has never forgiven Lucas for cheating on her sister. And suddenly being forced to work with him is pretty much a nightmare on steroids. Of course, it does afford her the opportunity to make his life as difficult as possible. But no good revenge scheme comes without payback. Because he didn’t become the Lucas Thorn without learning a few things about women.

Now Avery’s lust for vengeance has turned into, well, lust. And if Lucas stops cheating, it’s definitely not because he’s falling in love…
