2016 Reading Challenge: March

So by now I am pretty sure we have all heard of the Goodreads challenge and many of us in 2015 took part.. in which we each set our own personal target of books we wished to read in 2015. How many of us read the same kind of stories? What if there was a reading challenge that took us out of our "reading comfort zones" and changed our reading habits, perhaps even changed them for the better? I think i came across one such reading challenge. It's consists of 12 challenges and my aim is to accomplish one every month. So far so good......

March's Challenge was to read a book you have been meaning to read.
Picking a book for this challenge has been the easiest yet but finding the time to read it proved to be the hardest. I chose this book because I think it's one of those books that everyone should read. Why? It was first published in 1937. Yes that's right 1937! It was written for the author's very own children and was instantly met with praise and nearly 80 years later it has withstood the test of time to become a timeless classic, still being enjoyed by readers alike. I even remember a time in English Lit class, we were each given a choice to read either this book or another book. I chose the other book and now years later i can't even remember what that book was called or even what it was about. That says more about that book, than it does this one.

The book I chose this month was The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien. After enjoying the movies, I decided maybe it was about time I sat down to read the book and as chance would have it, a very lovely copy of it came into one of the charity shops I work for one day and i snapped it for 50p!

 Title: The Hobbit
Author: J.R.R Tolkien
Publish Date: 1937
My review: 4 Stars

Synopsis:
The Hobbit is the unforgettable story of Bilbo, a peace-loving hobbit, who embarks on a strange and magical adventure.
A timeless classic.
Bilbo Baggins enjoys a quiet and contented life, with no desire to travel far from the comforts of home; then one day the wizard Gandalf and a band of dwarves arrive unexpectedly and enlist his services – as a burglar – on a dangerous expedition to raid the treasure-hoard of Smaug the dragon. Bilbo’s life is never to be the same again.
Seldom has any book been so widely read and loved as J. R.R. Tolkien’s classic tale, ‘The Hobbit’. Since its first publication in 1937 it has remained in print to delight each new generation of readers all over the world, and its hero, Bilbo Baggins, has taken his place among the ranks of the immortals of fiction.
